UK Water Softening Systems
Water Softeners Installed in the UK Verses Water Conditioners
Water Softening is the first thing that springs to mind when we think about ridding ourselves of hard water in our domestic water supply. What if you could keep the benefits of that hard water but get rid of the effects that are so bothersome, such as lime scale build up on appliances, dry skin and hair and clothes appearing dingy. Washing in hard water can leave mineral deposits behind that can cause soiling and also cause whites to look less than bright.
Softening does as it says ‘Softens hard water’ whereas conditioning the water allows you to keep the minerals that are good for your health such as calcium and magnesium. So, hard water without the irritating effects is not a bad thing which may be contrary to what you had thought.
Hard Water – The Bad
It can result in deposits of calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate and magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) inside of pipes and boilers, causing lower water flows and making the heating of your home less efficient, and costing you more money!
Soft Water
Soft water is low in the minerals (especially calcium) that hard water in rich in, but it also has a higher sodium content. Because it is low in minerals it has a tendency to pull them in where it can, which means that other contaminants get pulled in as well.
How Do I Know What Kind of Water I have?
It’s a lot easier to tell hard water than soft water. Hard water often looks cloudy and leaves signs such as soap scum, spots on dishes and glasses and leaves a film on bathroom shower walls. Hard water may leave your hair and skin feeling dry.
Soft water, being low in minerals, does not leave any clues and is usually clear. It may however, leave your skin feeling very more slippery after showering though – this is because there is no residue left behind.
A water Conditioner Might be the Answer to Your Hard Water Issues
Conditioning water is a good option as those minerals that help maintain our overall health remain because It changes the way the minerals interact with your plumbing, central heating and household appliances without removing the good minerals.
