Why Soft Water is Good for Washing Clothes
Soft Water and Your Clothes
It’s not something we think about when we are looking to ditch our hard water in favour of the softer kind but soft water has a considerable side effect: Clothes will last longer and stay brighter if they’re washed in soft water on a regular basis. Why? Hard water leaves minerals in the weave of most fabrics over time. As a result, over time, clothes can start to look dull. Whether you spend a lot of money on your wardrobe or prefer to shop budget, in either case, longevity is key. The longer our clothes last, the happier we are.
Another Reason to Love Soft Water
Did you know that when you wash your clothes in hard water you generally have to use warm or hot water to get them clean? Not so when you are washing in soft water. Because hard water leaves those pesky minerals on fabrics that are easier to rinse off with hot or warm water. Soft water allows for the use cold water and gets the same results whist costing you less money.
How do I Get Soft Water?
You have a water softener or a water conditioner installed. You might be wondering what the difference is. A conditioner offers you the benefits of soft water but without the negative effects experiences with a standard softener because the good bits are left behind, whereas a water softener will strip your water of every mineral, meaning that you can’t benefit from those good bits. Yes there are some!
Hard water is abundant in minerals such as calcium, iron, manganese and magnesium.
