Buying an Aquabion Unit

We always recommend our customers give us as much detail as possible when enquiring what size Aquabion unit they may need. These details include the size of the incoming mains, the demand the unit is going to get and how many appliances are going to be used at the same time. The size of the house is irrelevant in most cases, this is a really important factor to remember.

Many Commercial offerings are massively oversized, causing appliances to fail and lots of complaints. At Aquabion we have removed many water conditioners and replaced them with a much smaller, much more efficient Aquabion unit, to suit the demand and not the size of the commercial offering. How Long Does an Aquabion Unit Last?

Aquabion has a life span of around 7 years, during that time, the unit requires ZERO maintenance, so once it’s installed you can forget about it, we will remind you when it needs replacing! We have a team in place to ensure that your unit is installed correctly and working to its full potential.

Do I Need a Water Conditioner?

Have you always wondered if you need a water conditioner in your home or business? If so, find out who your water supplier is here.. You will then be able to go on their website and do a post code search to check the hardness of the water In your area. The harder the water, the more aggressive the limescale! Commercial Aquabion units can cater for all PPMs, up to 400ppm (parts per million).

A COMMERCIAL example of oversizing- A customer came to us having been quoted from another water conditioner company, he asked us for a quote for a very large unit, which we thought sounded unusual for the type of Commercial offering it was for. We worked with the customer to find out exactly how much demand the unit would be getting (before quoting and using our fine-tuned methodology) and it was decided that our second smallest commercial unit was needed. Not only did this save the customer money, it also saved them having to deal with no end of problems from the very oversized unit first quoted.

Domestic Water Softener Alternative

A DOMESTIC example of oversizing- A customer who lives in a 4 bedroomed house was advised to get an S20 unit, this was determined on the size of her house. When Aquabion spoke with the customer we asked how many bathrooms she had and how many were used at the same time, she only had 1 bathroom. The S20 unit would have been oversized for the demand it would get in this property, so saving the customer the stress of the problems that oversizing may cause and the cost of a larger unit, we advised her that the S15 unit would be perfect for her, she went on to have the S15 installed with no issues.

James from Aquabion UK also came up with a way we can ensure the demand for the unit is there when it is most needed, which is equally important. He achieved this by coming up with something we call the Parallel system, please see the picture below. The Parallel system works well in situations where, for example, you have a large family home with 3 bathrooms but only 2 people live there most of the time, but your children visit from university during the holidays. By using the parallel system, the S15 can be used most of the time (when just 2 people are in the house), but when their children visit both of the units can be used due to the demand being higher.

James of Aquabion UK also created a sizing spreadsheet in order to work out the sizing for both commercial and domestic offerings, this is a very accurate way of working out what size is needed and it has come in particularly handy when sizing previously oversized commercial offerings. We at Aquabion are always very happy to see results on commercial offerings that were previously oversized and when following up how the company are getting on with their Aquabion, we always have a happy customer. Site visits are also a great way of Aquabion ensuring the unit is correctly sized and also, sadly seeing the effects that oversizing has on appliances, which makes us even more adamant to stop this happening!

What we love to hear is that after the 7 years, the units are still performing to their maximum potential, in this case we advise you keep an eye out for any signs that the unit may be nearing replacement and contact us as soon as you see these signs, mainly you will notice that the soft, non adhering lime you were getting has become more hard and aggressive! We always recommend our customers get in contact with us or one of our registered installers to ensure they get the correct sized unit, our registered installers have completed a test to ensure they understand the importance of all the points stated above.
